With just a handful of rounds remaining, the race to the end of the Betfred Super League season is reaching its climax.

Leeds Rhinos currently lead the way at the top of the table, but Wigan Warriors and Wakefield Trinity also remain firmly in the hunt for the League Leaders' Shield.

Which two sides will secure a top two spot and a home Semi-Final?

Meanwhile, the top six is yet to be decided. Warrington Wolves, Leigh Leopards, Hull KR and St Helens are all battling it out to book their place in the Play-Offs, with the likelihood that one of the competition’s big names faces the prospect of missing out on the Play-Offs entirely...

And whilst other teams are out of the running this year, their performances could have a major say in how the final standings unfold.

Every result over the closing weeks could prove decisive.

The 2026 Betfred Women's Super League competition has now split into two groups: Super Four and Shield.

In both competitions, all league points earned during the regular season will be carried forward with each team playing every other team home and away.

The Super Four Competition will see the top four teams from the regular season (Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and York Valkyrie) compete to determine the BWSL League Leaders and Grand Finalists.

The winners of the League Leaders' Shield will earn the right to host the Grand Final and will welcome the winners of the semi-final between the teams finishing in second and third place.

The Shield Competition will see the teams from the regular season finishing in the bottom four (Huddersfield Giants, Leigh Leopards, Featherstone Rovers and Barrow Raiders) competing in the same home and away format.

The team finishing bottom of the Shield table will feature in the Promotion Play-Off Final against the winners of the Women’s National Championship.

The Promotion Play-Off Final will be staged alongside the Grand Final with the winner earning a place in the BWSL for the 2027 season.

Wigan Warriors remain the only unbeaten team in the BWSL in 2026. Can anybody stop last year's treble-winners? Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos have been the biggest surprise package so far, sitting second after the first half of the season and looking like genuine contenders for their first Grand Final appearance since 2022.

St Helens still remain a major threat with everything to play for. And with their history of success and big-game experience, this means they cannot be ruled out of the League Leaders' Shield race either. Former champions York Valkyrie complete the top four - will they have a say on the final league standings? Can they push for a place in the semi-final?
