Doyle is a Knight
17 Aug 2026
York Knights have signed hooker, Thomas Doyle, and the 27 year old has joined for the remainder of the 2026 Betfred Super League season, and for 2027.
He’s spent the last three seasons at Wakefield Trinity, where he was part of their promotion winning squad in 2024. He then made two appearances last year in Super League.
He’s struggled for game time this year at the DIY Kitchens Stadium, and has spent time on loan at Bradford Bulls, where he came through the youth system.
After a season with Keighley Cougars in 2023, he made the move to Wakefield. He was recently granted an early release from his contract with that club, allowing him to make the move to York.
Doyle spoke about his new club: "I’m buzzing to be joining York for the final stretch of the Super League season.
"My main focus now is to hit the ground running, give absolutely everything to the club, and finish the year as strongly as possible.
"There is clearly a great group of lads here who are hungry to push themselves, and I can't wait to be a part of that!"
Knights head coach, Mark Applegarth, said: “I'm really glad Doyley has signed and I'm looking forward to working with him.
"I signed him for Wakefield and never actually got chance to work with him.
"He’s a tough no nonsense player that’s hungry to improve and I can’t wait to star working with him."
Doyle is available for the York Knights' game against Leeds Rhinos at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday 23rd August.
