BWhcSL: Round 6 Preview

It’s another action-packed weekend in the Betfred Wheelchair Super League as last year’s finalists Halifax Panthers and London Roosters meet for the first time in the 2026 competition.

Opening up the weekend are local rivals Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls.

The West Yorkshire derby makes its way to the Wheelchair competition for the first time this season after the Bulls made their league debut alongside their return to the running game.

The rivalry promises to add fuel to an already fierce fire as Bradford still chase their first league victory and Leeds look to make a statement against local talent.

Also meeting on Saturday are Edinburgh Giants who take on Sheffield Eagles.

Both newcomers to the competition in 2025, the Eagles have made a more positive start to the season than last having already gotten two wins under their belt.

As they head North of the border, they’ll be hoping to continue on their upwards trajectory and earn another two points in the standings.

The Giants, however, won’t make it easy as they hope this weekend will be an opportunity for them to get their first win of the season and make it onto the scoreboard.

The final game of the weekend sees the Panthers take on the Roosters in what promises to be another dramatic match up.

Although they haven’t met yet in the Super League season, the pair met earlier in the year in the semi-finals of the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup.

The Panthers put on a dominant display against the Roosters and are headed to the Challenge Cup Final next month where they’ll be hoping to perform against the Rhinos.

But this weekend is another opportunity for London to take the edge in what is fast becoming a heated rivalry between the pair.

After both finishing the 2025 season undefeated, the Roosters just missed out on silverware when the Panthers overcame them on points difference to take the League Leaders’ shield and also the Super League trophy after defeating them in the Grand Final.

This weekend will be the first opportunity for the Roosters to get ahead of the Panthers in the Super League competition, as one of the sides’ unbeaten streaks looks to come to an untimely end.
