Hodgson is heading to Hull FC for 2027

Hull FC are have unveiled the signing of exciting full-back Bailey Hodgson for the 2027 Betfred Super League.

The 23-year-old will make the return to his city of birth, joining the Black & Whites on a two-year deal that will keep him at the MKM Stadium until the end of the 2028 campaign.

Hull’s first recruit ahead of the 2027 season has been plying his trade with Leigh Leopards over the last two seasons, scoring 10 tries in 40 appearances for Adrian Lam’s side.

Born in Hull, Hodgson cut his Rugby League teeth at Johnny Whiteley Park with West Hull, before securing a move to Castleford Tigers, for whom he made his senior debut in 2020.

He moved ‘Down Under’ in 2021, taking up an opportunity with Newcastle Knights, before travelling down the South Pacific Ocean coast to Manly Sea Eagles in 2023.

It was in 2024 that Hodgson’s passport was stamped once more, returning to the UK to become an important asset in Leigh’s ever-dangerous backline.

Hodgson has been used in various roles within Adrian Lam’s side, including at full-back, on the wing and at centre, which means his signing gives the Black & Whites an important versatile option moving into the 2027 campaign.

No nonsense, powerful kick returns are a trademark of Hodgson’s game, providing his team mates with a solid set-starting carry to help them get onto the front foot.

“I feel like it’s a really exciting time and I can’t wait for the opportunity,” Hodgson told hullfc.com.

“I know the team have been struggling on the field this year, but off the field Hull are doing so many things well. I’m excited to work with Steve McNamara in 2027, a coach who I massively respect.

“It always means a lot more when you get the opportunity to sign for your hometown club and it’s something that I’m very excited about.”

Hull FC Chief Executive Richie Myler added: “Bailey was one of our priorities for 2027. He’s a young player with genuine Super League quality, he’s proven he can perform at this level and, importantly, we believe his best years are still ahead of him.
