Qareqare commits to Castleford

Castleford Tigers have announced that Jason Qareqare has signed a new contract with the Club, extending the agreement through the next three years.

The deal comes amidst significant interest in securing his services, signalling the Club's intent to build and improve its playing squad.

The Fijian international has made 55 appearances for the Club since making his First Team debut in 2021, scoring 33 tries in that time.

He scored a wonder-try on debut against Hull FC, and has since continued his fine try-scoring exploits despite a number of injury setbacks.

He completed his first career hat-trick earlier this year against Bradford Bulls, before getting another last month against St Helens.

Jason Qareqare said: "Obviously, it's a good feeling.

"I've been at this club for five years now, so glad to get it over the line - I feel like I'm playing my best rugby right now, so hopefully I can continue that for the next three years here as well."

On keeping the winger in his side for the foreseeable future, Ryan Carr, First Team Head Coach, said: "We’re really happy to get Gary re-signed for the next three years.

"He’s had a breakout year and he’s starting to get some real consistency and rhythm, which has been good for him. He’s formed a great connection with Krystian Mapapalangi and we know he will continue to develop and improve as a player which is exciting for us a club.

"Jas is a great person both on and off the field and he is a big part of our future."

Castleford Tigers Director of Rugby, Chris Chester, added: "I’m delighted we’ve been able to secure the services of Jason Qareqare for the next three years.

"Jason has had his best year at the club to date and his partnership with Mapz has turned into one of the best in the competition."

He continued: "The way Carry [Ryan Carr] wants his team to play has enabled Jason to be on the end of some really good shape, and I can’t wait to see that combination grow over the next three years.

"I’d also like to thank the board for their continued support and backing in helping get this deal over the line."
