The Betfred Women’s Super League is back this weekend following a groundbreaking day of action at Wembley Stadium last Saturday which saw Wigan Warriors lift the Challenge Cup trophy for the very first time.
The brand new cup champions will face Huddersfield Giants at Laund Hill on Sunday (KO 2pm). Denis Betts’ side are the only unbeaten team in the Betfred Women’s Super League (BWSL) and are yet to fall short of their opponents in any of their previous meetings.
The Warriors largest win against the hosts was during Round 3 of the BWSL last season where they cruised to a bruising 102-0 victory.
Mary Coleman scored five tries and Anna Davies claimed a hat-trick as the visitors registered 18 tries. The victory piled the misery on the struggling Giants, who could not offer a response that day.
Leeds Rhinos will be hoping to bounce back from their latest league defeat against Wigan when they face Warrington Wolves at AMT Headingley (KO 3pm). Warrington are the only team in the top tier of the Women’s competition without a win in either the League or Cup in 2025 and will be seeking a first-ever win over Leeds, having lost all five league meetings since 2021.
The Rhinos could see two of their key players reach milestones in this fixture with Lucy Murray just one appearance away from making her 50th appearance and Keara Bennett two points from reaching 150 points for the club.
St Helens will travel to Barrow Raiders on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways following a heartbreaking defeat at Wembley Stadium last weekend. The last time the two sides met at the Northern Competitions Stadium, Saints ran out 64-6 winners with Rachael Woosey bagging a hat-trick.
Elsewhere, Leigh Leopards will host reigning champions York Valkyrie as they look to keep up their strong start to the season. Both teams faced one another in the quarter final of the Women’s Challenge Cup and the Leopards will be hoping they can redeem themselves this time around.
