Round 9 of the BWSL saw Denis Betts' unbeaten Wigan Warriors POWER on, York Valkyrie win again, and there was a close contest in Cumbria between Barrow Raiders and Leigh Leopards!
Round 9 of the Betfred Women’s Super League got underway on Sunday with live action on The Sportsman.
And it was league leaders Wigan Warriors continued their unbeaten run in-front of the cameras, as they defeated Leeds Rhinos at Robin Park Arena, 30-16.
A relentless Wigan made a strong start as sisters Tiana Power and Shaniah Power both crossed in the opening ten minutes.
This included an outstanding effort from prop Shaniah, who went the distance from 70 metres out to touch down for the second try of the afternoon.

Another two quickfire tries from Molly Jones and Mia-Jayne Atherton made it 20-0 before Lucy Murray got Leeds on the board right before the break.
Eva Hunter then extended Wigan’s lead after the restart before Grace Banks showed her pace and got on the scoresheet to get the Warriors out to 30-6.

The Rhinos added two very late scores from Izzy Northrop and Bethan Dainton to reduce the deficit, but it was Denis Betts’ side who went on to claim a first win on home soil over Leeds and maintain their impressive winning streak.
Leeds remain fourth in the table.
Meanwhile, York Valkyrie picked up another win after beating Huddersfield Giants 26-6 at the LNER Community Stadium.
York built up a 14-6 first half lead with tries from Emma Kershaw, Ellie WIlliamson and Agnes Wood, with the Giants responding through Eva Izumi.
The second stanza was a real arm-wrestle, and it took until the 75th minute before any more points were on the board.
Peace Lekuru scored for York to seal the victory, before Jas Bell added another just before the hooter. The Valkyrie stay in third place in the table, two points behind St Helens in second.
Then, the third offering of BWSL on Sunday saw a closely fought between Barrow Raiders and Leigh Leopards in Cumbria.
Nicole Stewart contributed 12 points to the Raiders’ 16-10 win over the Leopards, with Vanessa Temple coming up with a clever chip and chase to score what would turn out to be the match-winning try.
As a result, Barrow move level on league points with a fifth-placed Huddersfield.
Elsewhere, second-place St Helens were awarded a 48-0 scoreline after Warrington Wolves informed the RFL that would forfeit their Round 9 fixture.
