Round 3 Round Up

Three teams remain unbeaten in 2025, whilst four teams are still seeking for their first win following this weekend’s action.

And at the same time, history was made as Super League headed to Las Vegas in Round 3!

On Thursday night, Hull KR claimed a third straight win when they faced Salford Red Devils.

The Robins followed narrow victories against Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity with a strong showing at Sewell Group Craven Park, where they ran in seven tries.

Willie Peters’ men scored three times inside the opening quarter, through Kelepi Tanginoa, Oliver Gildart and Tom Davies.

And their dominance continued into the second half as Jack Broadbent dotted down early on, before Jai Whitbread crossed twice from close range.

Jez Litten's try rounded off the scoring spree as last year’s Grand Finalists kept their opponents scoreless (42-0).

Two other teams in contrasting form would also meet in Round 3, as Leigh Leopards hosted Catalans Dragons.

Umyla Hanley's hat-trick helped the Leopards continue their winning start to the 2025 campaign, as they consigned the Dragons to a third successive defeat.

The hosts racked up a 16-0 lead at halftime as Hanley, Keanan Brand and Jack Hughes all crossed.

Hanley extended the lead soon after the break and new recruit Ethan O'Neill went over for his first try in Leigh colours.

Alrix da Costa finally got the visitors on the board, but Hanley's third would wrap up an emphatic 34-6 win.

The second game on Friday night saw Hull FC come from behind and grind out a narrow 10-11 victory against Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Skipper Aidan Sezer’s drop goal seven minutes from time would secure the two points for the Black & Whites - although it was Harvey Barron’s spectacular length of the field try which sparked life back into the visitors.

On Saturday, St Helens proved too strong for Wakefield Trinity over in West Yorkshire.

It was back-to-back trips over the Pennines for Paul Wellens’ men, and although they had enjoyed two routs of Salford and Castleford in the previous rounds, they had to work a little harder to overcome Daryl Powell’s Trinity.

The first forty was closely contested, but the visitors were clinical and laid down a marker, as Jack Welsby, Harry Robertson, Daryl Clark and Kyle Feldt all crossed on the day as a result of some fantastic attacking play.

Isaiah Vagana forced his way over for Wakefield's only try of the afternoon, but it is Saints who remain at the top of the table (6-26).

Viva Las Vegas! There was a try fest in ‘The Entertainment Capital of the World’ as champions Wigan Warriors enjoyed a 48-24 win over Warrington Wolves at the Allegiant Stadium.

The Warriors impressed in Vegas as Super League was part of a historic quadruple-header, with Matt Peet’s men always looking to be in control.

Tyler Dupree opened the scoring for Warriors, before Abbas Miski produced a flying finish in the corner. Bevan French and Harry Smith then touched down to make it 24-0 at the break.

Cherry & White stars Jai Field, Jake Wardle and Luke Thompson added themselves to the scoresheet to ensure a win and Liam Marshall would add the eighth and final try for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Adam Keighran kicked eight goals from eight.

Despite a victory being well out of reach, Warrington would respond with plenty of points of their own, however - providing an entertaining spectacle for the 45,000+ fans inside the stadium and those watching all around the world.

Arron Lindop, James Harrison and Matt Dufty all replied for the Wolves, before Matty Ashton went the length of the field in trademark fashion which completed the scoring.

A West Yorkshire derby brought the curtain down on Round 3 with Leeds Rhinos registering their first home win of the season with an incredible 38-24 victory over local rivals Castleford Tigers.

The Rhinos were without their starting halfbacks Brodie Croft and Matt Frawley, but the hosts ran riot from the off, with a sensational seven-try performance.

Three tries came in the first forty – firstly through Jake Connor, before two of Bentley’s wild offloads made way for Leeds’ second and third tries.

Connor gave the pass to Keenan Palasia for his side's second, before Ash Handley kicked through to Harry Newman who dotted down before half-time.

And Brad Arthur’s men came out firing the second half with Jack Sinfield on the end of a wonderful team effort.

The Tigers did manage to get on the board through young Fletcher Rooney, but they were unable to prevent a late blitz of Leeds tries – from Handley, Ryan Hall and Riley Lumb - which ultimately sealed the game.

Danny McGuire's men did show fight in the closing stages, however, as Zac Cini intercepted a pass and raced away and Innes Senior scored a length of the field effort, reducing the deficit to 14 points.

But the damage had already been done and it was to be the Rhinos' day, as they came away with the spoils and the all-important two points.
