Round 4 Preview

There were more records broken in Round 3! History was made with Wigan and Warrington's Las Vegas venture and the Betfred Super League had viewing figures well in excess of 1m – for the first time since the opening round of 2022!

But what does Round 4 have in store?

Thursday 6 March

Hull FC v Leigh Leopards (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

Round 4 gets underway with Hull FC hosting Leigh Leopards at the MKM Stadium on Thursday night.

The Leopards enjoyed a huge 4-54 victory the last time out in West Hull, although both sides have changed significantly since then.

The Black & Whites will be aiming to make it three wins from their opening four matches when they host Adrian Lam’s side at the MKM Stadium - and will be boosted by their dramatic victory over Huddersfield Giants last week.

Meanwhile, the Leopards are hunting aiming for an impressive four wins out of four.

Ex-Leopards captain John Asiata is set to face his former team for the first time, with John Cartwright making several changes to his Hull squad, as Jed Cartwright returns from injury, and Will Hutchinson and Sam Eseh come into the side.

New recruit Liam Knight could also make his Black & Whites debut on Thursday.

Ed Chamberlain (head) and Denive Balmforth (hamstring) drop out of the squad, alongside Will Gardiner and Ryan Westerman.

For Leigh, former Hull man Darnell McIntosh and Aaron Pene are named in the squad, with Robbie Mulhern and Ben McNamara dropping out.

Friday 7 March

St Helens v Hull KR (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

It’s arguably the standout tie of the round when the current top two meet at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night.

Both sides are three wins from a possible three and will be boosted by their convincing victories in the third round.

A blockbuster clash is expected, with the visitors invigorated by the return of their star man and Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel Mikey Lewis.

Lewis has scored tries in his sides’ last four meetings with the Saints, so if he is fit enough to play on Friday night, he could be the one to watch out for.

Lee Kershaw and Eribe Doro are also included in the Robins 21-man squad, whilst Niall Evalds drops out under HIA protocols and Rhyse Martin misses out through injury and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Bill Leyland also drops out this week.

For the hosts, head coach Paul Wellens makes just a single change to the 21-man squad he announced for the last round, with Morgan Knowles back available for selection.

Ben Davies is the Saint who makes way for the Red V’s Vice Captain to return into the fold.

It’s certainly an intriguing fixture on Friday as both the Saints and the Robins have faced the same opposition in the opening three rounds; Wakefield Trinity, Castleford Tigers and Salford Red Devils, and are yet to taste defeat…

Castleford Tigers v Salford Red Devils (20.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

Who will claim their first win of the season when Castleford Tigers host Salford Red Devils?

Marc Sneyd has scored points in the Red Devils’ last eight matches against the Tigers, so is one to watch for sure.

Last time out at the Jungle saw Castleford claim a 36-24, although in the reverse fixtures, Salford triumphed 26-22 and 30-22 on both occasions.

Saturday 8 March

Catalans Dragons v Leeds Rhinos (17.30, UK) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

It’s desperate times for the Dragons in Round 4 who are still searching for their first win of the season, after suffering losses to Hull FC, Warrington and Leigh respectively.

Steve McNamara will be hoping his side can respond back on home soil, as they welcome Leeds Rhinos to the south of France.

The Rhinos have won their last two matches and Brad Arthur's men will have the momentum in their favour - however, it is worth noting that Leeds have been nilled the last two times they have played in Perpignan.

What action will unfold in this encounter?

Both sides are boosted by the return of some notable names in their squads.

For the Dragons, Sam Tomkins, Théo Fages and Chris Satae are back and they replace Bayley Sironen, César Rougé and Jordan Dezaria.

The Rhinos also welcome back Lachlan Miller, Brodie Croft and Matt Frawley whilst Tom Holroyd will serve the first game of his two game ban. New signing Ethan Clark-Wood is also included and is yet to make his debut for the club.

Sunday 9 March

Wigan Warriors v Huddersfield Giants (13.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

The Warriors return home from Las Vegas and will be looking to record their first Super League home win of 2025.

Many will know The Brick Community Stadium isn’t an easy place to go, especially the Giants, as Wigan have won their last six home meetings against them.

And whilst Huddersfield are aiming to register their first two points of the campaign, Wigan will be looking to build on their wonderful win over Warrington in the States.

Warrington Wolves v Wakefield Trinity (13.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

It’s a return to the Halliwell Jones Stadium for Daryl Powell as his side Wakefield Trinity travel to face his former team Warrington Wolves.

Both coaches will be looking for a response from their sides who were heavily defeated in Round 3, with the Wolves losing in Vegas and Trinity defeated at home by the Saints.

The last time these two sides faced one another was back in July 2023, when Wakefield secured a comprehensive 42-6 victory over their opponents, which ultimately led to Powell's exit from the Wolves.

He's now at the helm of Wakefield, but just what will happen in Sunday's match?
