Round 18 Team of the Week

Round 18's Team of the Week...

It was a wonderful win for Warrington against St Helens on Friday night, with maverick George Williams assisting Matty Nicholson’s match-winning try.

His teammate, Adam Holroyd, also features in Round 18’s Team of the Week. Holroyd came up with a crucial score ten minutes from time and made the most tackles (31) out of any Warrington player on the night, as Sam Burgess’ men recorded a memorable victory to go second in the Super League table.

The Leigh Leopards were lively against a struggling London Broncos, with Lachlan Lam at the heart of his side’s action, producing one try, two try assists and four tackle busts.

Try scorer Tom Amone also enjoyed a solid performance in front of a home crowd.

Huddersfield finally ended their losing run in Round 18, with club captain Leroy Cudjoe and Sam Halsall impressing.

Cudjoe made 33 tackles and ran for 108 metres against the Red Devils, while Halsall came up with a crucial intercept to score the Giants’ opening try.

On Saturday, Hull FC pulled off a shock win against the Champions Wigan Warriors with a terrific team performance.

Jack Walker was the star of the show, with a superb try just four minutes in, as well as two decisive try savers throughout the match, highlighting Hull’s incredible defensive display.

Likewise, Yusuf Aydin put a huge shift in for his side, in both defence and attack, and deservedly features in Team of the Week.

Despite being on the losing side, Liam Marshall continued with his trademark try scoring, and still occupies top spot in the stats for the most Super League tries scored this season.

The Warriors almost forged a late comeback with one of Marshall’s efforts included in this, but it was too little too late. The Wigan winger also made a whooping 192 metres in just 20 carries on Saturday.

There was delight for Hull KR in Round 18, as they registered back-to-back away wins. This couldn’t have been done without the efforts from try scorers Ryan Hall and Jai Whitbread, who made almost 300 metres combined.

Finally, Castleford Tigers stunned Catalans Dragons on Sunday afternoon, to claim their third consecutive win.

Tigers duo Liam Horne and Alex Mellor appear in Round 18's Team of the Week, as a result. Horne bagged a brace, as he helped his side go 18-0 up in the first 30 minutes, with Mellor making the most metres out of any Castleford player on the pitch.
