Round 15 Preview

The regular season of the 2024 Betfred Super League has hit well over the mid-way mark, as we enter Round 15 this weekend...

Thursday 20 June

Castleford Tigers v Hull KR (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

Thursday night Super League returns to our screens on Thursday night when Castleford Tigers welcome high-flying Hull KR to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, as the two sides meet for the first time this season.

The Tigers came close against a tough Wigan outfit last Friday and will be hoping to put in another strong performance on home soil. Meanwhile, the Robins will be looking to make it four wins in a row, although it is no secret they have struggled to win away from home this year.

Craig Lingard has made two changes to the squad that took on Wigan, with Muizz Mustapha and Joe Westerman coming to replace Samy Kibula and Liam Watts.

KR's James Batchelor and Matt Parcell both miss out this week due to injury, but Joe Burgess is back in contention this week after being named in the 21-man squad. Zach Fishwick also comes into the team.

Friday 21 June

Wigan Warriors v London Broncos (20.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

Wigan have won their last five home meetings with London, and the Warriors will be looking to make it six consecutive wins as they chase down rivals St Helens at the top of the Super League table.

The Warriors have named a strong side for their clash at The Brick Community Stadium. For the Broncos, Dean Parata returns to the squad after missing a couple of weeks with a HIA whilst Jensen Monk also returns to the 21.

Mike Eccles' men will be without Ethan Natoli and Rhys Kennedy however, as they both serve one match suspensions following last week's game against St Helens.

Leeds Rhinos v Leigh Leopards (20.00) – live on Sky Sports

It’s set to be an emotional evening at AMT Headingley Stadium, as Leeds Rhinos’ home fixture against Leigh Leopards in Round 15 will be dedicated to the late Rob Burrow CBE.

The fixture will also be played on Global MND Awareness Day as the Rhinos head for a capacity crowd. More details can be found here.

With both teams sitting outside the top six and pushing for a Play-Off place, it’s set to be a close contest. The Rhinos ran out 16-22 at Leigh Sports Village in Round 4 of this year, but have home advantage this time around…

Assistant coaches Chev Walker and Scott Grix will take charge of Friday's game after Rohan Smith's departure on Wednesday. Leeds have confirmed that four players will miss the game after being ruled out by concussion protocols following last Saturday’s game at Hull FC. Harry Newman, Ash Handley, Tom Holroyd, and Sam Lisone have all been stood down this week having displayed concussion symptoms during or following Saturday’s game.

The Rhinos have brought in young Wigan forward Sam Eseh Jnr on loan, who joined Wigan in 2023 and has spent time on loan at Castleford Tigers this season. Youngsters Toby Warren and Ben Littlewood are also included and could make their debuts for the club with Matty Russell, who is on loan from Warrington.

Can they overcome a recently resurged Leopards?

Saturday 22 June

Hull FC v Warrington Wolves (15.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

Hull are at home to Warrington on Saturday and will look to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Warrington, on the other hand, will be aiming to complete the double over the Black & Whites this year, with Sam Burgess seeking an immediate response from his Wolves’ outfit, following their defeat against Salford last Friday.

Hull have made two changes to the squad that was named in advance of last week’s clash, with Will Gardiner and new signing Jed Cartwright both coming into the squad to replace Jack Walker and Danny Houghton.

Warrington's George Williams, Josh Thewlis and Lachlan Fitzgibbon are all named after being sidelined in last weekend's defeat to Salford. Jordy Crowther remains unavailable with an ankle injury.

Catalans Dragons v Huddersfield Giants (17.30, UK) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

These two teams enjoyed extremely strong starts to the 2024 campaign but have since struggled to find form – both losing five of their last six Super League matches.

Huddersfield were victorious against the Dragons last time out – with a 6-34 win in Perpignan in the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals. They have also won their last three meetings against the French side.

The Dragons have slipped to sixth place in the league and will need to record a win to improve their chances of finishing anywhere near the top. Similarly, Huddersfield will be hunting a Play-Off place, so the two points on offer will be greatly desired by both teams.

Tariq Sims is back in the squad for Catalans, as he replaces Matthieu Laguerre. Likewise, Huddersfield have made just one change to their side for Round 15 - Harvey Livett replaces Thomas Deakin.

Sunday 23 June

Salford Red Devils v St Helens (15.00) – live on Sky Sports and SuperLeague+

Table toppers Saints will make the short trip to Salford on Sunday afternoon where a win would see them maintain top spot of the Super League table heading into the mid-season international break.

The Red Devils were triumphant in the reverse fixture in March, but can go on to back up their wonderful win over Warrington?
