Round 9 Round Up
8 hrs

Round 9 of the Betfred Super League got underway with a Thursday night thriller, as Warrington Wolves claimed a seventh consecutive victory over St Helens.
It was also their third meeting in all competitions this year – and this time it was a Matty Ashton hat-trick that helped to seal a 32-18 win at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and a clean sweep in the trilogy.
Toby King scored the hosts' first try before Ashton crossed twice in the left corner. Saints then responded with a try from Jon Bennison and two from Mark Percival, which meant there were just two points separating the two sides at the break.
The Wolves would go on to dominate in the second stanza, however, and another Ashton try five minutes in would complete his hat-trick, before Rodrick Tai scrambled his way to the try-line to give Wire a decent lead.
Matt Dufty, a renowned match-winner, then sidestepped his way to seal a marvellous victory for Warrington, ten minutes from time.

On Friday night, there was a scintillating showdown between Leeds Rhinos and league leaders Hull KR.
AMT Headingley Stadium was bouncing and it was Jack Broadbent who initially opened the scores for the visitors, before Leeds replied with two terrific tries from Ash Handley and Riley Lumb – Handley again involved in the build-up.
The Rhinos looked to be in complete control and heading to a huge victory, but the Robins rallied as Broadbent bagged his brace and James Batchelor’s try levelled the scores to set up a nail-biting finish.
With four minutes left on the clock, magic Mikey Lewis would be the man to produce the goods. Spotting space on the left edge, Lewis got the ball away to Broadbent who raced down the touchline, before passing back to Lewis who dotted down for the dramatic match-winner.
Following their 14-20 victory in Round 9, the Robins remain top of the table heading into Magic Weekend...

Despite defeat in Rivals Round, Castleford Tigers continued their confidence and momentum from that game and went on to record their second win of the season in Round 9 – with a five-try haul over Huddersfield Giants.
Innes Senior (x2), Josh Simm, Alex Mellor and Rowan Milnes were on the scoresheet on Saturday afternoon, with Milnes kicking five goals - a 100% success rate with the boot.
The Giants did respond with consolations from Jacob Gagai and Oliver Wilson, but remain rooted to the foot of the table, and on zero points after nine matches (12-30).

On Saturday evening, Leigh Leopards enjoyed a convincing away win against Salford Red Devils (6-28).
It was a dominant display from Adrian Lam's Leopards with two tries from Andrew Badrock and tries each from AJ Towse, Darnell McIntosh, Matt Davis and Josh Charnley.

The third offering on Saturday night then saw Catalans Dragons sensationally comeback to snatch a win in Golden Point extra time.
They welcomed Wakefield Trinity to Stade Gilbert Brutus who were unstoppable in the first forty – with tries from Max Jowitt, Liam Hood and Josh Griffin, who was on the end of a beautiful score.
The Dragons trailed by 10 points at half-time, but came out firing and fought back through Chris Satae and Nick Cotric – with Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet’s conversion to Cotric's try giving them the lead for the very first time.
It was genuinely a tale of two halves, before a late Wakefield penalty goal would take the scores to a nervy Golden Point, where Reimis Smith rampaged over to send the home crowd into raptures (24-20).
